I recently sat down with Dr. Rob Plummer of the Daily Dose of Greek to talk about the best way to learn biblical Greek. There is a lot of discussion, and even books about whether the traditional way of learning Greek is past its best before date. Some argue that we should no longer teach using the grammar translate method at all, and switch seminaries to using the natural language acquisition approach to learning koine Greek. For all the benefits of the natural language approach (and there are some), there are also some drawbacks. In this video (part 1 of 2) Dr. Rob Plummer and I discuss some of the drawbacks of the natural language approach that you might not have heard about.
