The Bolaven Plateau is a unique region of Laos. The easiest way to describe it is "coffee and waterfalls". The uniqueness of this place is the fact that the plateau rises 1000-1300 m above sea level, in the crater of an ancient volcano. Due to various natural and climatic conditions, numerous coffee and tea plantations operate here, making Bolaven an informal "source" of Lao coffee. Few people associate Laos with coffee production. Meanwhile, among baristas and gourmets, it is considered one of the best in the world! Every year, 15,000 to 20,000 tons of beans are harvested in Laos, of which 65% are Robusta and 35% Arabica. The first seedlings came here at the beginning of the 19th century, brought by the French. After brewing, Laotian coffee has a strong, aromatic flavor and a pitch-black color.
