UMAHI TO CONTRACTORS: TIME FOR NIGERIA FIRST IS NOW AS FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WORKS GIVES NOTICE TO TERMINATE THE CONTRACT WITH JULIUS BERGER PLC ON SECTION I OF ABUJA-KADUNA-ZARIA -KANO DUAL CARRIAGEWAY REHABILITATION, FOR BREACH OF STANDARD CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT, DEPLOYS IMMEDIATE PALLIATIVE INTERVENTION ON THE ROAD TO EASE VEHICULAR MOVEMENT In keeping with the aspiration of the Renewed Hope administration in holistically, boldly, and tenaciously tackling the cancer worms that hold back economic stimulation through infrastructural development, the Federal Ministry of Works in its management meeting of 4th November 2024 issued a Notice of termination of the contract with Julius Berger Plc on the rehabilitation of Section 1 Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road for delaying the project execution without justification. The Ministry under the Renewed Hope administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has inspired a change in the old order, ugly narrative, and business-as-usual syndrone that hitherto bedevilled the works sector. The Ministry has braced for a change in the ugly attitudes of some contractors who have constituted themselves into a cartel and sacred cows, the infectious syndrome of business-as-usual and capital flight in contract execution masterminded by some expatriate contractors, the reckless chase for variation on price and foreign exchange differentials, the utter disregard for value for money, quality and timely delivery of projects.
