4 Ways To Treat Autism. There’s not universal or across-the-board treatment for autism. In addition, people may also have co-occurring medical or mental health issues that also need to be addressed in order to find the best success. So let’s look at an overview and I’ll give you some great links in the notes to some articles from both the CDC and Autism Speaks, that gives a comprehensive list of options: 1. Treatment should start as soon as possible. As a parent or loved one, trust your gut. If you are witnessing a lot the symptoms that we talked about in the previous videos then don’t give up until you get the help you need. 2. Medication can be a help in the treatment of ASD, but they are not a cure. A person might experience relief from irritability, depression, or hyperactivity with the appropriate medication. 3. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is considered an evidence-based best practice treatment. It can help with language, communication and social skills, academics, focus, and much more. It will also decrease behavioral problems. 4. Occupational therapy helps people with autism focus on play skills, learning strategies, and self-care. OT strategies can also help to manage sensory issues. -- Learn About Trauma or Depression on our Online Academy here: https://mentalhealth.academy/ Special Notes: Connect to a counselor: https://www.hisheartfoundation.org/re...
