Our 2021 Al & Marge Brown Lecture on WWII featured historian Francine Hirsch, Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She discussed her latest book, Soviet Judgment at Nuremberg: A New History of the International Military Tribunal After World War II, and the role of the Soviet Union in the Nuremberg Trials and the unexpected contribution of Stalin’s Soviet Union to the International Military Tribunal and to the postwar development of international law. The endowed Al and Marge Brown Lecture Series on World War II was established in 2018 through a gift from Phillip and Mary Ann Zimmer to benefit the Jackson Center. The endowment fund continues to be supported by the Brown family. The Robert H. Jackson Center envisions a world where the universal principles of equality, fairness, and justice prevail.
