DAWN's Sarah Leah Whitson and Michael Schaeffer Omer-Man, authors of the timely new book "From Apartheid to Democracy: A Blueprint for Peace in Israel-Palestine," spoke On January 27 with DAWN fellow Nader Hashemi about their book, the formula presented in it, and the broader Israel-Palestine conflict.  The book breaks down the failures of previous peace initiatives in Israel-Palestine—including and particularly the Oslo Accords—and offers a fresh approach and a detailed roadmap for ending Israel's illegal occupation and apartheid regimes. Only once those crimes are ended, Whitson and Schaeffer Omer-Man argue, can Palestinians and Jewish Israelis determine their futures—in one, two, or more states if they choose—through an inclusive, democratic process.
