If you do not follow this important process, you can damage your cigars as the wood will absorb the humidity from both your devices and the cigars! After trying many methods over the years, we have found that using Boveda's seasoning packs is the most reliable and convenient way to achieve this. All you have to do is purchase some of Boveda's seasoning packs (links above) according to the storage capacity of your humidor. Each pack seasons up to a storage capacity of 25 cigars. Therefore, for a 100-count humidor like the one in this video, you will need four packs. For larger humidors, there are also big packs that are able to season up to a cubic foot of storage. However, the smaller packs are equally effective. Once you have evenly placed your seasoning packs in the humidor, you need only close it and leave the humidor for two weeks. Once this time has passed, simply discard the seasoning packs and you may safely integrate your cigars. During this time, if you already have cigars in your possession, you can use a convenient 1-year Boveda storage bag to keep your cigars safely humidified (link above). Although most Boveda packs can be used in any quantity, you should take care not to use too many seasoning packs. This is because the wood will absorb as much moisture as possible. If you use too many, it may cause the wood to warp and damage the seal. We find this seasoning method much more convenient and accurate than wiping down the interior of your humidor with a cloth or towel with distilled water. It avoids the mess and the potential risk of damaging the cigar humidor. Don't forget that new humidors will need to be reseasoned once a year for the first four years.
