A section of Tana Delta residents displaced by floods have accepted to relocate permanently to higher grounds identified by the Tana River County government. The County government identified Minjila area among several places that those willing to relocate will henceforth call home and leave their current villages for farming. While on a tour of the area, Tana River Governor Dhado Godhana said that the County government will coordinate the relocation process in collaboration with other agencies. The County has witnessed the worst floods since 1962 according to some locals and efforts to relocate them had initially encountered with stiff resistance. Residents of Bandi village who are now residing at a camp at Gamba area along the Minjila- Lamu highway backed the decision and told the governor to speed up the relocation process.
