Just days after Cleveland Clinic announced its new policy that will require copays to be paid upfront, many patients are feeling frustration. 3News spoke to a man today that says he'll have to pay nearly $500 in copays next month along. "In my opinion, it's making the Cleveland Clinic look like patient care is secondary and finances are first," said 69-year-old Frank Bianchi. "I'm not happy with it, not one bit." Bianchi has two appointments at Cleveland Clinic next month, but he's frustrated because starting June 1, the hospital system will now be collecting copays before or at check-in for appointments for nonemergency outpatient services. "I need these tests just to make sure that I am doing what I'm supposed to and being healthy," he explained, sharing next month he's supposed to be getting an echocardiogram, chest X-rays, and an EKG from the Clinic.
