VANS Girls' Combi Pool Classic is a wrap for 2016! What can we say?..So amazing and a learning experience every year. Bryce was stoked and very fortunate to make the podium this year. Once again, the competition was fierce. Fun yes of course, but make no mistake, each one of these girls is there to try and win and is skating their heart out, leaving nothing in the tank. The level and rate of progression from the AMs coming up is amazing and on a pace perhaps never witnessed before. Maybe this is because skateboarding as a whole industry is experiencing its biggest boom ever, or maybe because girls love skateboarding. These girls will always remember the struggles of the women pioneers who came before them, paving the way and breaking down gender stereotypes and barriers, so they could have such amazing venues and opportunities to showcase their talents today. From PRO prize-purses to media coverage, to more venues, the girls today have it made compared to their predecessors and it looks like they are up for carrying the torch onward and upward. Big thanks again to Vans and World Cup Skateboarding for hosting this contest, and of course to Silly Girl Skateboards, Matt Gaudio, Pink Widow Distribution, McGills Skateshop, Pride Socks and Aura Skateboarding. And super stoked on this NEW posse who showed up unexpectedly from Brazil, known as the Brazilian Storm, and slayed it...pushing these girls even more. No, its never all about contests, but contests do seem to bring all the girls together from around the world, and drive progression.
