Have you seen this Scottish Village? Its incredible Join me on an exciting journey through Blairgowrie and Rattray, a stunning town in Perthshire, Scotland, as I explore its hidden gems! This is my first time visiting this charming village, and I’m here to document my adventure for those who have never heard of this incredible place. Our walk begins at the Boat Brae Bridge, where the beautiful River Ericht flows, offering breath-taking views of the Scottish landscape. This river, once the lifeblood of the town's thriving textile industry, powered numerous mills that fuelled the local economy. Today, it adds to the town’s picturesque beauty, attracting visitors and nature lovers alike. As we walk up Boat Brae Road, we pass historic buildings, including The Borries Bar, a structure with deep historical roots that has transformed into a cosy restaurant and beer garden. Originally built in the Victorian era, it once played a significant role in the town’s industrial history before being repurposed into the popular establishment it is today. Learn more about how this historic gem has evolved over time! Our exploration continues onto High Street, the bustling heart of Blairgowrie. Along the way, we pass various small businesses, including The Balmoral Bar, a dog grooming shop, and the well-loved Balmoral Fish and Chips—a must-visit spot for those craving authentic Scottish seafood! This area exudes a calm charm, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking mental wellness and relaxation, far from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Moving forward, we enter a residential area where traditional Scottish architecture dominates the streets. The stone houses and quaint alleys create an atmosphere that is both unique and deeply tied to Scottish heritage. Despite Scotland’s reputation for being colder, I find that the weather here is quite similar to what I’m used to in Manchester! Passing through the quiet streets, we reach Hatton Road, which leads us to a peaceful park, a local school, and a community centre, highlighting the town’s strong sense of community. Before concluding the video, we take a scenic walk along Haugh Road, appreciating the River Ericht from a different perspective. This peaceful spot is ideal for a reflective stroll, offering a perfect blend of history, nature, and community. This video is just an introduction, so be sure to watch the next episode, where I dive deeper into this beautiful Scottish town!
