Zenit(h) - this piece bathes in the summer of a humans best years. Today it's solstice and decay will come - Humans best time is now. Humans best life is here. Embrace this moment. “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” - chinese proverb. Emil Sin Clair. The story of the artist is a story of failing, of obstacles, islands of joyfulness and never losing humor. It’s a tale of losing and finding purpose through arts. A bold approach - but our tales protagonists’ only choice. Growing up in the gentle hills of rural german countryside, the artist first refused to learn any instrument until the age of about 16. In spite of all attempts by his relatives, turning him into a musician, his main interests lay in books, soccer and dangerous plastic toys. Being born into a family with big roots in both composing and musicianship, music may have been an inevitable blessing. But for the artist it merely was a burden. “No – I don’t want it.” Confused by the late birth of his sister and the rising struggles of a modern western civilization adolescence, despair and alienation plagued him. Oh dear - suddenly waking up from the false narratives of childhood nothing in this new world felt right. There seemed to be no purpose in fitting into a society whose loss of faith had led into decline. Like Hermann Hesse once wrote: „Who would be born must first destroy a world”. And his soul rebelled. Fatefully, his way out of the egg commenced by the godsend of a second birth: In the summer of 2001 when one of his friends started singing a Tocotronic song, the artist knew what his determination was. With the strung of an e minor chord, initiation struck and a big mystical journey began. Playing the guitar was the only ways to handle the Weltschmerz - the old proverb „show me your wound and it will heal” still inherits some irrefutable truth. After finishing school in Heidelberg, he studied audio engineering in Berlin. Getting to know the music culture was a rather cynical sphere, he began serious compositions with Guitar Pro as notation tool only for his own joy. No one should know what he really did. It was too precious. In Birkenwerder, a small town in Brandenburg, he met his second family and together they started making experimental music. An accident in 2008 nearly ended the journey. During a concert the artists left ear was seriously injured. His ear recovered, but a nasty tinnitus has since then stayed as an annoying constant companion. This incident led to a reorientation. Not knowing if he he will ever be able to be a real musician, let alone what the next step for him was, he decided to travel. This travel led through Germany, Australia and New Zealand and went on for two years. A backpack and a guitar. Here, the artist found his own style and way of writing music. But he wasn’t finished yet. Some other lesson had to be learned. Feeling, that music wasn’t the only thing he wanted to do, another chapter began. Doing the rather not so obvious he became a beekeeper. So our “Hans in luck” returned home, where he grew up. Being a helping hand in his mothers small business, through selling vegetables and fruits on the weekly market he earned his daily bread and build up his apiculture. During this time he never gave up music. But he lost interest in finishing anything, gave up every concept of achieving something. He just played for the sake of playing. After keeping bees for almost 10 years, fate called again, with the opportunity of joining a farming project which aimed to combine agricultural work and therapy for burnt out people. This felt right. This felt like it was the thing he wanted to do.But it did not last. And it ended up in the loss of the apiculture. Crestfallen by this shattering experience, the artist, who in the meantime had become father of twins, in his deepest deep, remembered what his real dream once was. And so he built his own music studio in the place where his apiculture once was. His style underwent the last fine tuning. It's been a long journey, yet it might well have just begun.
