New Perspectives Access 365 | Module 1: End of Module Project 1 Bowles College PROJECT STEPS You are a student affairs coordinator at Bowles College in Henderson, Nevada, and are developing an Access database to maintain data about student groups. You need to improve the current student group database by creating and modifying fields and tables, queries, forms, and reports. Open the Students table in Datasheet View and use FirstName to rename the current FName field and make it easier to interpret. Close the Students table. Create a new table in Datasheet View to maintain advisor information. Change the ID field name to AdvisorID with the AutoNumber data type, add a field named AdvisorFirst with the Short Text data type, add a field named AdvisorLast with the Short Text data type, add a field named StartDate with the Date/Time data type, and add a field named Budget with the Currency data type. Save the table with the name Advisors and then close it. Open the database Support_AC365_EOM1-1_Faculty.accdb, copy the 30 records in the Organizations table, and then paste them in the Advisors table in the project database. Close the Advisors table and the Support_AC365_EOM1-1_Faculty.accdb database. Open the Groups table in Datasheet View, add a new record that contains the data shown in Table 1, and then close the table. Table 1: New Record for the Groups Table Open the Students table in Datasheet View and delete record 8 for StudentID F40886 (Floretta Franklin). Modify the BaseRate value for record 6 with StudentID C87578 (Jue Cho), using $17.00 as the new BaseRate value, and then close the Students table. Create a query using the Simple Query Wizard. Choose the GroupName, GroupType, and Members fields from the Groups table. Show the record details, and use GroupList as the title of the new query. Open the query to view information, a portion of which is shown in Figure 1, and then close it. In the Navigation pane, rename the Group form using GroupEntry as the new form name. Create a new form using the Form Wizard. Choose all the fields in the Students table. Choose a Columnar layout. Title the form StudentInfo, open the form to view information as shown in Figure 2, and then close it. Create a report using the Report Wizard. Choose the GroupName, GroupType, Office, and Members fields from the Groups table. Do not add any grouping levels. Sort the records in ascending order by GroupType and then in ascending order by GroupName. Use a Tabular layout and a Portrait orientation. Title the report GroupsByType, preview the report, a portion of which is shown in Figure 3, and then close it. Save and close any open objects in your database. Compact and repair your database, close it, and then exit Access. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
