Jinja, Uganda Village Medical Clinic

Jinja is a major city in Uganda. Surrounding the city are many smaller villages that fan out from the central city at the meeting place of Lake Victoria and the Nile river. The people living in these villages are often very poor and many live in stick huts, smeared with the red clay mud that fills the land. In one of those nearby villages is the Village Medical Clinic that provides medical care for around 150 people a week. The dedicated clinic staff bring together a wonderful mix of professionalism and passion for those who have no other medical care options. This small clinic has an outpatient wing, a new in-patient care unit, a medical dispensary and on-site labs that help them serve patients from the entire region. The clinic staff specialize in the medical needs of HIV patients and those with ongoing medical conditions. In this remote location, there are very few options for care. Critical emergency needs are handled by well trained professionals.
