This video is about the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Single Song Overdub Scale. This innovative concept is designed to address the need for a negotiable "per song" payment formula and the protection of an AFM contract for musicians who overdub additional tracks onto recordings of songs and/or instrumentals by independent artists. This stand alone scale can also be combined with the AFM Limited Pressing Agreement. It is designed to capture the growing market of Internet based recording, both in home studios and commercial facilities. This easy to use contract and agreement will ensure that your work and intellectual property are protected if the recording you work on reaches 10,000 sales and/or downloads, or is used in another medium, such as film, tv, or commercials. The minimum scale is a $100/song, or $125/song w/ video, and all benefits and pension contributions are built into the negotiated per song amount negotiated between the player and employer. Each musician can pay into their own pension out of the negotiated per song amount, or the employer can pay the pension if desired. Multiple musicians can work under one Agreement, and up to 12 songs can be recorded over a 6 month time span under one Agreement. This "how to" instructional video is narrated by Dave Pomeroy, Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 President and AFM International Executive Officer, who helped create this unique "per song" scale, which can be used by any AFM member in the U.S. and Canada.
