This tutorial looks at triplen harmonics, and explains using visual cues (and not mathematics) why they are a problems in power systems and transformers. These tutorials are aimed at the first-year undergraduate electrical engineer who is seeking to obtain a grasp of the concepts that does not use calculus or mathematics to explain: the explanations are visually-driven and sometimes supported with worked complex number solutions. As with all these A3-tutorials, an attempt has been made to minimise the maths, and maximise the visual explanation.
