An Ylja arrangement of the song "Vísur Vatnsenda-Rósu", an Icelandic folk song from their 3rd album DÆTUR. The song is by the composer Jón Ásgeirsson (*1928) and he based the song on a rímur-song from Bjarni’s collection. Jón uses the folk song beautifully and com- poses a middle section that enhances the effect of the folk song. This is one of the best known and loved folk song in Iceland in this composition of Jón’s. The poetry is by Rósa Guðmundsdóttir (1795–1855) who earned the nickname Skáld-Rósa, or Rósa the poet. Rósa is one of very few women in Iceland that have been regarded a poet. She was a midwife and lived in the northern part of Iceland and since she lived on the farm Vatnsendi she was often called Vatnsenda-Rósa, or Rósa from Vatnsendi. All the verses are what are called lausavísur, or single-verses, meaning they do not necessarily belong together. Jón selected them for his composition and they form a beautiful and melancholy whole. My eyes and yours, the wonderful stones. Mine is yours an yours is mine, you know what I mean. I haven’t seen him in a while, he truly is beautiful. An exceptional man and a standout. You I mourn the most, flowing in tears. Oh, if we never had met my dear friend. From Ylja's 3rd album DÆTUR, released October 12, 2018
