On Thursday, officials from the Karnataka Lokayukta arrested Prashanth Madal, the chief accountant of the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board and son of BJP MLA Maadal Virupakshappa, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh. The Lokayukta's anti-corruption wing conducted raids at the MLA's son's residence and offices, where they found Rs 6 crore in cash. Additionally, they recovered Rs 1.7 crore from Prashanth Madal's office. It is likely that the anti-corruption wing will summon the BJP MLA for questioning in connection with the case. Prashanth Madal was caught accepting the bribe at his Bengaluru office, and sources suggest that he had demanded Rs 80 lakh to clear a tender.
