From the same streets of Compton that N.W.A made famous in hip-hop emerged a multitalented artist ready to also make his mark. David Marvin Blake, better known as DJ Quik, was a homeless, hungry DJ and producer with a substantial measure of local fame when Profile Records signed him to a daring six-figure deal. The first full-length output from this deal was QUIK IS THE NAME in 1991.
