Written in 1996 by Reuben Kigame, this song formed one of the ten songs that radically changed Swahili worship music from the choral form to a more contemporary Afro-Western sound. Mr. Kigame's album titled "Wastahili Bwana" was a bold move, and Swahili church music has never been the same again. Taken out of Psalm 103, the song partly goes: "Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. ... Do not forget his benefits; He forgives your transgressions and heals all your diseases; He saves you from all danger! ... He is merciful and gracious; He is not easily provoked to anger; As far as the East is from the West, so has He removed our sins from us!"
