The Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) hosted a two-day conference titled Seventy Years After Bandung: The Struggle Continues on 26–27 April 2025. The inaugural session commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Masuma Hasan, Chairperson of PIIA and former Pakistani diplomat and Cabinet Secretary. Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed delivered the inaugural address. The keynote address was delivered by Senator Sherry Rehman, Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change & Environmental Coordination. Genocide and Human Rights Violations (Day Two: Session One) was chaired by Dr Farzana Shaikh, Associate Fellow Asia-Pacific Programme, The Royal Institute of International Affairs, London, United Kingdom Speakers: 1. The Good and the Bad Genocides - Dr Maung Zarni, Founder of the Free Burma and Free Rohingya Coalitions and the Forces of Renewal for Southeast Asia, Kent, United Kingdom 2. Sudan: Civil War and Human Rights Violations - Mr Mohamed Yahya, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Islamabad 3. Genocide and Impunity in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria - Interactive Session led by Dr Shaista Tabassum, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi
