Well today is my birthday, and I decided for my birthday that I do a bit of a different upload as compared to my usual uploads. I did mention that in this channel you will mainly see elevator uploads, but there will also be occasional transit uploads, but it happens super rarely. So, for today I decide to do my first ever transit upload on this channel and it's a transit agency that pretty much defined my childhood, the BART Legacy Trains. BART first opened their system to the public on September 11, 1972, and has been serving the Bay Area for 52 years. For years, BART has revolutionized from Chopper C1 cars to A Cars and now the Fleet of the Futures, BART has been through a lot of changes. I remember when I took my very first ride on the Legacy Trains when I was around 4 or 5 with my grandpa and I would also remember riding these to Chinatown sometimes with my dad, oh good times right there. I also remember riding on these trains for field trips from school or from summer enrichment camps. As I started to ride BART more and more, I began to grow interest in these trains because of the awesome views and the nostalgic sounds of the AC traction motors. I definitely loved the old wool seats that they used to have but have been removed since the beginning of 2015 and as well as the floor being made of carpet. I also will miss the smell that came with the BART cars. There were times where I wouldn't really ride the trains to a specific destination, but rather just enjoying the ride on these trains itself, it was a great feeling and super unforgettable. These trains have taken me all over the Bay Area, whether it's from Castro Valley to Oakland, or from Oakland to San Francisco, etc. they have served a big purpose in the world of transportation especially for me in terms of my childhood and the present day. I never thought I would be hearing the news of these trains heading into retirement for good, but as they say, "All good things must come to an end." To say that the Legacy Trains will be greatly missed is an understatement to a lot of transit enthusiasts like me and others. Although it's sad that the Legacy Trains are retired for good, the memories from them will never be forgotten. Thank you, Legacy Trains, for 52 years of hard work and great service. On this day April 20, 2024, the day that the Legacy Trains will head into retirement for good, I go to the retirement ceremony held at the MacArthur Station alongside with @VinceTransportProductions and ride the Legacy Trains for the last time ever as it disembarks from MacArthur and makes its final stop at Fremont which is replicating the first service that was completed when it first opened to the public in 1972. The Legacy Trains will be preserved at the Western Railway Museum for display. RIP Legacy Trains September 11, 1972- April 20, 2024.
