We shipped the boat 1,200 miles from Sarasota, Florida to Osage Beach, Missouri, and none of it would’ve been possible without Mark Bonafide and ‪@Performance-Marine‬ Mark handled the entire transport perfectly, and when we arrived at the lake, the Yellowfin was already floating at Performance Boat Center in perfect shape and ready to go. The first run on the lake was special. Wylie Nagler, my father Mark Mitchell, James Perkins, and I jumped on board and just soaked it in — boats everywhere, high horsepower monsters flying around, and our Yellowfin finally in Ozarks water. Once we settled in, we picked up the ladies and took them out to Paradise Tropical Restaurant & Bar one of the go-to spots on the lake. It was a perfect first day. From there things got really serious. We met up with Justin Keith ‪@StangkilrProductions‬ Killer Performance who had his absolutely insane 34’ Thundercat by Big Thunder Marine. This wasn’t just any catamaran — it’s got twin Mercury Racing 450R outboards running on Motec ECU, fitted with Kong billet snouts and billet intakes, and drinking MS109 race fuel. Justin asked me to team up with him for the Shootout in the 32–37 foot Outboard Catamaran class — he would take the wheel and I would run the throttles. That night we got in a test session, stretched it to 125mph, and knew we had something special lined up for the big race. And then came one of the craziest surprises of the trip. My brother ‪@CleetusM‬ Cleetus McFarland had arranged a ride for us in the twin T-53 turbine XInsurance Catamaran boat with roughly 3000hp — two giant turbines strapped in, making some of the wildest noise and thrust you’ll ever feel on the water. We ran it up to 135mph and even launched it, catching serious air. Poor ‪@gbiffle‬ wasn’t feeling too hot after that ride, but it’s something I’ll never forget. That night we rolled into Super Cat Fest at Camden on the Lake Resort, one of the biggest gatherings of offshore performance boats in the country. We pulled in with the Yellowfin and honestly, people loved it — surrounded by turbine cats, outboard monsters, and offshore legends, our big center console stood out and got a lot of attention. We had an amazing night hanging with friends and meeting so many people who live and breathe performance boating. The next morning came fast, and it was time for business. Justin and I hit the drivers meeting at Dog Days Bar & Grill bright and early, checked in for our run, and lined up in the 3/4-mile Shootout course. Adrenaline was through the roof, and we sent it. The boat ran perfectly — smooth, fast, and we pushed it to 128 miles per hour in the 3/4 mile. This trip had it all: a flawless transport from MB Performance Marine, incredible time on the water with family and friends, lunch at Paradise, wild rides in turbine boats, an unforgettable night at Camden for Super Cat Fest, and then a full-tilt run at the Shootout with Justin Keith and the Thundercat from Big Thunder Marine. This was more than just a weekend — it was an experience I’ll never forget and the perfect example of why the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is one of the biggest boating events in the world.
