The Tale Of Ye Xian: A Chinese Cinderella Tale

This week we are covering Ye Xi'an, an ancient Chinese story that is the origin of Cinderella. **Please be Aware** While this story ends in happiness with the character Ye Xian overcoming her hardships, the beginning is quite sad for her as she experiences the loss of her Mother and her pet. If death is a sensitive topic to your child, please review first. Also, similar to Disney's Cinderella, there are also themes of cruelty as Ye Xian's family is forced to clean and serve her family. She finds happiness and strength in leaving her situation and being discovered by the Prince who values her kindness. This video was made in partnership with The Richmond Neighborhood Center's Multicultural Art Program as part of our efforts to reach students during the quarantine.
