Գարակէօզեան •Արեւմտահայերէնով = = = = = = = Sermon synopsis: As we prepare to celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of Christ, we are faced with this latest disturbance in our daily life, this virus, and so we ask, "what next?" With the unprecedented political, economic, security, and now health crises of the past months, we wonder, "what's next?" When the disciples heard about the coming difficulties of their Lord, and of the subsequent victory, they heard his words, but did not understand. Just as we do, they were seeking the feeling of security, though know quite well that having that feeling does not mean that we are in fact safe. We wonder, who can return us to a state of security and well-being? These days in Lebanon everyone is demanding accountability of others, but do they understand what is their own responsibility? The Lord told his disciples about all the difficulties that lay ahead so that they would learn to be at peace no matter what difficulties they would face. It was their responsibility to cling to that peace; God would not do that for them. We must remain focused on his (not our) victory, so that we be equipped to face all of what is yet to come. Jesus declared that the victory was already his as he was on his way to the cross. So, too, his victory is ours here and now, especially in times of pain and difficulty, and as we joyfully do our part for the peace, health and safety of those around us.
