Camera gear has always been a struggle for me. No matter how much I research, or how hard I try to replicate my favorite creators, my cinematography always seemed to fall short of my expectations. I couldn’t understand why all my shots felt so bland. How did my filmmaking idols do it? Was it because they had a bigger team? A larger budget? More gear to work with? Was I using the wrong camera? Well, it turns out that I WAS using the wrong camera… BUT the real answer wasn’t in buying lights, or more lenses, or becoming a color grading master. It was much simpler than that.
