Born on February 22, 1944 in Long Island, NY (-April 26, 2017) from an advertisement background, Jonathan Demme developed his screenwriting skills, before going into directing. His passion for music and interests in people benefitted his love for documentaries with "Stop Making Sense" as well as the numerous collaborations with music videos for artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Tom Club, Talking Heads, UB 40, etc... His recognisable "Into The Camera Close Up" style has inspired many directors like Paul Thomas Anderson and can be seen throughout all his filmography including "Silence of the Lambs", "Philadelphia", "The Manchurian Candidate", "Something Wild", "Melvin and Howard", "Rachel Getting Married", "Beloved", "Married to the Mob", etc...
