Dr. Taufik Valiante - Why he studies Epilepsy

Taufik Valiante, MD, PhD, FRCSC, completed his residency in the Neurosurgery Training Program at the University of Toronto in 2002. In 2007, he established a state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Toronto Western Hospital, significantly increasing surgical services to those with medically refractory epilepsy in Ontario. Dr. Valiante is currently the Director of the Surgical Epilepsy Program at the Krembil Neuroscience Centre, a Scientist with the Krembil Brain Institute at UHN, and has cross-appointments to the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. He co-directs the CenteR for Advancing Neuro- technological Innovation to Application (CRANIA), and will direct the newly established Max Planck Center for NeuroPhysics at the University of Toronto.
