Let me know, I'd love to hear from you! Description: First I tell you who this video is good for: You want to invest in some good acrylic paint and don't quite know if it is right for you? Or you just bought a cheap acrylic set from the dollar store and don't know where to begin? I got you covered! We find out what equipment you would need to get started with acrylics as a beginner. You will need some paint and I explain what the symbols on the acrylic paint tubes mean. Acrylic paint comes in sets as well and I have a seperate video on a comparison between the Liquitex basics set of 48 and the royal talens acrylics set of 36. I linked it above. We also need water to paint with acrylics to play with the texture and effect of the paint. We need a surface to paint on, which is mostly a canvas or mixed media paper. When buying paper, be on the lookout for the g/m2 number. You want at least 200 grams per square meter of paper fibers, otherwise the paper won't hold enough water and therefore paint. Also: when buying canvas watch out for the primer or "gesso". You want to buy primed canvas or a gesso board. otherwise you have to do that time intensive step yourself. We also need something to paint with: a brush or a palette knife. You can paint complete painting with only a palette knife, but most times you will paint with a brush as a beginner. Then we talk about the advantages of acrylic paint: the nice texture options (also called impasto), the enormous color variety and assortment of acrylics and the variety of projects you can do with acrylics. Paint a portrait in acrylics, paint furniture or a plant pot, paint a huge painting for your living room, the list goes on and on. Finally we take a look at the rating I created for the different art mediums. And acrylic paint has the best rating so far. Acrylics anre just all around great, especially for beginners!
