This session will explore the inherent "siloing" of OER and the ways that OER repositories and initiatives can be connected through a networked approach. We'll look at ISKME's progression from the initial launch of OER Commons in 2007 to developing distinct, customized, digital libraries, Microsites, to the creation of a networked OER Exchange (OERX) where partners can share resource collections directly with one another. We'll look at the role human networks and the evolution of the field as a whole has played in facilitating these outcomes and informing the design of this critical infrastructure. Finally, we'll look ahead to the extension of that work: connecting to externally hosted repositories in an Open Metadata Exchange and making OER exponentially more discoverable. We'll look at the potential for how this work will create a vibrant, open OER community globally. By attending this session, attendees will be able to: Understand the complexities of sharing OER across contexts See how networking ISKME Microsites and OER Commons might be an initial step toward greater sharing Identify new ways of contributing OER across silos and contexts to create a broad ecosystem of sharing Share a vision for greater OER discoverability
