HD Video. A damp and drizzly day and boggy ground with the cloud well down on all of the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen Y Ghent. The Elite riders would welcome these conditions as they have the fitness to leave the main pack behind in the mud! So mild and damp all day. Lots of riders became lost in the clouds on Ingleborough. Race winner was Giles Drake (Wheelbase cabtech Castelli) with a time of 3 hours 06 mins (phew!!). Ladies winner was Bryony Halcrow (Hope Factory Racing). Big congratulations to both. Thirteen times winner Rob Jebb came fifth. There were 343 starters and 313 finishers. Well done to all. This course is a tough one and even tougher when wet. Just finishing is an amazing achievement. The 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross is staged in the Yorkshire Dales National Park every year at the end of September. It is the toughest and biggest Cyclo-Cross event in the UK! What else can be said? Great spectacle. Unique event Total distance: 61kms (38 miles) Road: 28kms (45mins – 1hr 5mins) Unsurfaced: 33kms (2hrs 15mins – 4hrs 40mins) Unrideable: 6kms – 8kms Total climbing: 1524m (5000ft) Could you do that in 3 hours and 6 mins - in wet conditions with the cloud down?
