Lake Bled, Slovenia 🇸🇮 Lake Bled is EASILY the most touristy place in Slovenia. Surrounded by mountains, with a small island in the middle and a castle on the cliff, it feels straight out of a postcard. The island has been visited for over a thousand years, and Bled Castle above the lake is the oldest castle in Slovenia, first mentioned in 1011, looks like a binary numberisnt it ;) You can easily do Lake Bled as a day trip, even without a car from Ljubljana. Buses run regularly from Ljubljana, and tickets can be booked online through Nomago or Arriva Slovenia. From the bus stop, most places around the lake are within walking distance. There’s plenty to do around the lake: • Rowing to Bled Island • Biking around the lake • Kayaking • Swimming is allowed only in designated bathing areas If you like hiking, there are short but steep hikes to viewpoints like Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica, offering the best views of the lake. Lake Bled also works well if you want to stay for multiple days, with lots of hotels, guesthouses, cafés, and lakeside walks. You can expect beautiful views, a lively atmosphere, and quite a few crowds, especially in peak season.
