Abandoned dogs in HK (Interview), Support by HKDR

I began to foster an abandoned dog named Tessie four months after arriving in Hong Kong. During this period, I saw a lot of stray dogs after visiting several dog rescue centers. My interest peaked, I decided to find out more: where these dogs were from, and why were so many abandoned. I also wanted to know what makes someone choose to adopt a dog from a shelter compared to a buying a dog from a shop. Hong Kong is a strong consumer society, where value is established by price tags. When someone can adopt a dog for free, are they truly fully prepared to look after them? With the newly gained knowledge which I had received from spending time visiting shelters, I hoped that creating a short film could help to provide ideas and advice to potential adopters, and to educate about the realities and expectations of dog adoption. Furthermore, I hoped to offer additional information to current residents of Hong Kong Which could arouse interest in the plight of abandoned dogs.
