What would you do? Rebuild or Warranty? This is a HUNT 35 Gravel wheelset worth £799. There is a clear defect in workmanship and the selection of components. This is happening because of the extreme angle the spoke needs to enter the hole at the rim. The problem is made worse by the extreme thickness of the rim material not allowing the nipple to swivel into an good angle to accept the spoke. The result is a spoke nipple under side loading, where it should be a nice linner force. The Spoke nipple is not designed for this side ways loading and as such is cracking and will eventually break. I offer 2 solutions in the video. One is to use a hub with a lower flange height and try and reduce the angle by lengthening the hypotenuse. This might just be enough. Otherwise the rim will need to be drilled in such a way to allow the nipple to seat at the angle required.
