Each piece corresponds to a cardinal direction, forming a symbolic compass that precedes, atraverses, and sustains the larger liturgical architecture of the work. Rather than marking time, these interludes mark direction. They do not belong to the calendar, but to the path. Oriens opens the sequence as a gesture of emergence — the first light before structure, where intention is born but not yet declared. Auster follows as tension and breath, the inner heat of passage and trial, where movement replaces certainty. Occasus descends into restraint and silence, a conscious yielding that prepares the ground for what must remain. Septentrio concludes the cycle in stillness and vigilance, where continuity is preserved through permanence rather than action.
