Curious how Austin's growth affects our city's parks, trails and green spaces? Parkland Dedication 101 is for you! We spoke with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department and fielded questions from viewers. EVENT INFO: Austin is growing, and so is our park system, thanks in large part to Parkland Dedication (PLD). PLD is a city ordinance that requires new residential or hotel developments to either set aside a portion of land for public parks, or pay a fee that the City uses to acquire and/or develop its parks. The Parks and Recreation Department Planning Division team is committed to making the Austin parks system even better by getting new parks developed and dedicated, building connections to existing parks, and working towards an interconnected network of parks that serve all of Austin’s citizens.
