What does it take to prove your love for a language? CNA set out to show Afrikaans speakers that it stocks a wide range of Afrikaans books and CDs — but instead of just saying it, we demonstrated it in the most unexpected way. Afrikaans speakers are deeply passionate about their language. They want to see it grow, thrive and endure. So to prove that CNA is committed to keeping Afrikaans alive and accessible, we travelled all the way to a small Afrikaans-speaking community in Patagonia, Argentina. Many of the people there have never been to South Africa. They speak Afrikaans and Spanish, but have little to no access to authentic Afrikaans literature or music. By delivering books and CDs directly to this remote community, CNA showed that its commitment to Afrikaans goes far beyond its store shelves. The message was simple and powerful: If CNA is willing to take Afrikaans to the ends of the earth, imagine what you can find in-store.
