Mike Scott performing with Carl Story & The Rambling Mountaineers at "The Bill Monroe Music Park" Bean Blossom, IN 6/19/82 (22:09) Carl Story..."The Father OF Bluegrass Gospel" I was fortunate to have worked for Carl from November 1980 (18 years old) after my High School graduation until I left for Nashville to work for Jim & Jesse & The Virginia Boys at The Grand Ole Opry in February 1983. I was I had just turned 20 years old when this was recorded. I performed just over two years with Carl performing over 150-175 play dates per year through out the Mid, North, South, and Eastern US. Carl & his wife Helen... as well as the band, were always so very nice to me and Carl always featured me as an Artist although I was his banjo player /sideman. I have so many cherished memories from this time in my career. Other band members that traveled and performed with us during my time with Carl were...Clarence "Tater" Tate, Red Rector, Jerry Munday, & Billy Baker. We performed at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, TN in October for seven (7) days as well as performed several TV shows on "The Cas Walker TV Show" there in Knoxville as well. So many fairs, festivals, and some churches. As I look at the band credits here below...I am realizing that I am the only on left from this group as we have lost Carl, George, Mitchell and Danny. Unfortunately we lost Carl in 1995 (5/29/16 to 3/31/95) I was fortunate to escort his wife/Widow... Helen Story on to the Stage of The Grand Ole Opry for Carl's induction into the Bluegrass Music Hall OF Fame" Sept 2007.
