One full week into our kitchen renovation, things are finally starting to feel real. The cabinets are painted, the walls are coming together, and the room is slowly transforming into an actual kitchen. But there’s one big deadline hanging over everything: our goal is to sit down and eat our very first meal here on New Year’s Eve. With time running out, we tackle everything from scraping and painting stubborn walls to installing secondhand cabinets in a very not-so-square room. There are unexpected setbacks, peeling paint disasters, improvised fixes, and a few “learning moments” along the way. Outside, we take a short break to plant tulips, while inside the pressure builds as the kitchen finally starts to take shape.
