This is several hours of a platform / floating deck building work compressed into 3 minutes time-lapse style. Enjoy the build!! myBSlife had me build this 10 x 10 floating / platform deck and thought it would be fun to capture my progress and the results. I started building the floating deck late one afternoon & finished the next day. How to build a platform/floating deck Make sure you have a level surface to start. If using deckblocks it is faster Ensure a solid base of gravel is underneath to keep the deck from shifting Putting down the black cloth helps reduce weeds growing up through the deck Use 2x8 beams (or larger) as joists Attach all joists securely (joist hangers are a good option) Block the joists (place a piece of wood between them, this will keep them from shifting) Close off sides (this will keep larger animals ie skunks out from living underneath) Attach top boards to your deck Look back in satisfaction! I had no idea how much battery time lapse required when filming the building of a floating deck and as a result I had to reset and charge my phone several times.
