From backyard broilers to business success: How Standard Bank helped Patricia Beleng scale up

Patricia Beleng started out with just 100 broiler chickens in her mother’s garage. Today, she runs a growing poultry operation supplying hundreds of birds each cycle — a journey shaped by grit, learning and determination. Farmer’s Weekly's senior journalist Lindi Botha visited Beleng at Buhlebenkosi Agri Productions outside Sasolburg, where she reflected on the early decisions that shaped her poultry business and the point at which growth demanded a more formal business approach.
