I Built a New Budget Portable Refractor EAA Rig (SV550 80 mm)

I’ve been looking for a scope that fits between my big Dobsonian and my wide-field refractor — something portable, affordable, and versatile enough for EAA. In this video I put the Svbony SV550 80mm refractor to the test to see how it performs on galaxies. I set up the SV550 on the Sky-Watcher EQ-AL55i mount and aimed it at two southern galaxies, NGC 55 and NGC 253. Using SharpCap to live stack short exposures, we’ll find out how this refractor performs under real skies and whether it’s sharp and fast enough to be a solid mid-range option for EAA.
