In the area of “medical humanities,” the notions of disease, illness and sickness refer, respectively, to biological, experiential and social aspects of the disease (Aho & Aho 2008). This shows the relevance of this phenomenon, the multiplicity of perspectives under which it can be studied and the richness of its meaning.
