Eight Years On: Rohingya Women and Girls Need the World’s Support More Than Ever

Eight years since the start of the #Rohingya crisis, over one million refugees — mostly women and children — continue to live in overcrowded camps in Cox’s Bazar. For women, girls, and young people, the struggle for dignity, protection, and life-saving health services remains dire. Without urgent international investment, critical services such as safe deliveries, youth centres, and safe spaces for women and girls risk shutting down — putting lives at stake. UNFPA remains committed to standing with Rohingya women, girls and young people. But we cannot do it alone. The international community must step up to ensure they live in dignity, safety, and with opportunities for resilience until they can return home in a safe and sustainable way.
