Meet the Falcon M18's brother - the M18+. It starts with the excellent Falcon formula and adds options like Mil/Mil or MOA/MOA measurements and your choice of FFP or SFP reticle placement. I have been testing the M18 for about a year and a half now, and I have absolutely loved it. The scope has the right formula: a complex reticle in the first focal plane, a 30mm tube, side focus, a generous zoom range, and Mil/Mil measurements. Add in the surprisingly clear glass and generous eye relief, and you have a wonderfully precise scope for hitting mixed targets at mixed ranges. The M18+ offers a few upgrades on the older model. You get a new "heads-up" view of the magnification level, a larger elevation turret, and better flip caps. More importantly, you get to choose between Mil/Mil and MOA/MOA turrets and reticles, and those reticles can be placed in the first focal plane or second focal plane. In this case, I'm testing the SFP model. There are times when I prefer a second-focal-plane scope, and our long-range precision Savage Axis is exactly the platform for SFP. I want to maximize precision, not necessarily ease of use. During testing, the scope performed flawlessly, minus a couple of drawbacks. The glass creates noticeable color fringing, and the windage turret is very quiet when turning left. All in all, though, this scope is very clear and precise, and I look forward to seeing how it performs in next month's competitions. Remember, I'll be firing this rifle in 600-yard and 1,000-yard matches. New!
