Rex Black Diamond claims to be one of the longest lasting, and fastest chain lubricants ever. It may also be one of the most difficult to get - with very few retailers stocking it. It is certainly one of the most expensive, at over £1 per ml (£35 for 30ml). After trying many other chain lubricants that claim to be fast, and long lasting I wanted to see how it performs both on and off-road. General riding conditions were typical British Autumn and early Winter weather. Temperatures below zero, up to low double figure and plenty of rain and mud. To give a good comparison, the chain lubricants that I typically use, and have used: Preferred race option - Immersion wax with Molten Speed Wax Preferred standard option - Squirt Why wax? A good wax based chain lube will significantly improve drivetrain lifespan over using a more traditional oil-based chain lube. Others tried: Muc-Off AF, Ceramicspeed UFO Drip V2, Smoove, Chain-L, Morgan Blue wax + a huge list of oil based options that sit on the shelf, never to be touched again.
