As we continue our series on Chronic Pain & Pain Management, I am excited to welcome Aly Rusciano, Chronic Connection Advisory Board Member, Chronic Illness Advocate & Denise Archilla, MSW, founder of Chronic Connection. Aly has multiple forms of Juvenile Arthritis along with Lupus, Addison’s Disease, and Raynaud’s. Due to her chronic illnesses, many of her days are spent going to and from appointments or treatments and she sometimes even use a wheelchair to help her. Living with chronic pain can be hard, but Aly does not let that stop her from achieving her goals! Aly will be attending the University of Tennessee at Martin this upcoming fall as a sophomore in order to continue her journey in receiving a degree in Creative Writing. Over the years, Aly has developed the motto “Don’t let ANYTHING dull your sparkle!” Chronic illness may have a hold on her body, but it will not stop her from living. Denise, founder of Chronic Connection provides a platform for young people like Aly to be heard and a variety of programs to help connect other teens/ young adults together with ongoing advocacy efforts to bridge the well communities and medical communities with the real needs and issues facing these teens/young adults daily.
