Zamboanga City, officially known as the City of Zamboanga, is a highly urbanized city located on the southwestern tip of the Zamboanga Peninsula in Mindanao, Philippines. Despite its name, transactions are conducted in cash rather than through traditional barter. The Yakan Weaving Center, situated in Barangay Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, serves as a vibrant hub for preserving and showcasing the rich textile traditions of the Yakan people, originally from Basilan Island. Fort Pilar, officially known as the Real Fuerte de Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Zaragoza, is a historic 17th-century military defense fortress located in Zamboanga City, Philippines. Constructed in 1635 under the guidance of Jesuit priest Father Melchor de Vera, the fort was originally established to protect the area from pirate incursions and foreign invasions.
