Full Title: I Am S/H(im)e[r] As You Am S/H(im)e[r] As You Are Me And We Am I And I Are All Our Together: Our Collective Consciousness’ Psychogenic Fugue More than just a ten minute odyssey of dizzying loops, soundscapes, and Alan Watts speeches, this song was one of the most formative that I have ever been exposed to on the platform. I was only fifteen years old when I first watched the playtesting preview for this song, but something about it completely enraptured me and the rabbit hole I would go down seeking out this style of music has led me to many of the most exciting artists I've ever heard. I know I'm not alone in this either in the community, so to me this is a perfect example of the incredible reach and versatility that the RBN had to offer. This song has even proven to be a bonding point between me and one of my closest friends in the community, a friendship that's been going strong for over eight years. Nearly ten years after first hearing S/H(im)e[r] I had the absolute privilege to see it performed live, and I still cherish that night as a standout performance. It's also a really hard song to pull off, so even though I've wanted to do this FBFC for as long as I've been doing them, I always delegated it to the pile of pipe dreams that would be amazing but impractical and painfully unlikely. I couldn't be happier to have been proven wrong by the amazing gentlemen here. They made what was long considered a pipe dream into a reality. Nothing says camaraderie to me like everyone typing in the discord chat during the spoken word break, trying to keep our cool long enough to bust out the intro refrain. It was like making a human chain in the eye of a hurricane. Major props to my boys for having nerves of steel despite how much we all really really wanted to make this happen. Much love. -Nick 1:42 for the super sexy hot odd riff combo ayye Something about this song is so enticing yet absolutely terrifying in terms of fubbing. The length doesn't help at a whopping 10 minutes and the pain and anguish mostly has to do with how scattered the hard parts are. The objectively hardest part across the band is within the first two minutes (check out the forced double strums in the triplets!), but the reprise at 8:21 after the spoken word is such a STUPID section under pressure. Those tom rolls are very picky and are a lot harder than they look, so par the course I ruined 4 FBFCs in that section. Still not as bad as when Bryce's dogshit internet ruined the FBFC twice after the spoken word, and that was awful enough to delay our attempts for another year out of spite. Part of me didn't think we'd come back to this so overall, I'm very happy to put this tune to rest. Attempts for this date back to 2013 so this was a loooooong time coming. And good news - we have no more long songs left to fub! 2112 intensifies -Chris
