This video shares the journey of Mr. Abdul Shafiq Khan, a 62-year-old resident of Delhi, who had been suffering from persistent redness and swelling in his left eye for nearly two years. Despite consulting multiple doctors and using prescribed eye drops, his condition did not improve. Eventually, further investigations including MRI scans revealed a lacrimal gland mass, which was pushing his eyeball downwards and inwards, leading to discomfort and cosmetic concerns. At Eye7 Group of Hospitals, Lajpat Nagar, Mr. Khan consulted Dr. Ruchi Goel, Senior Consultant & Head of Oculoplasty, who advised surgical removal of the mass through an orbitotomy procedure. The surgery was carefully planned using an upper lid crease incision with a small lateral canthotomy, ensuring both safe access to the tumour and minimal visible scarring for better cosmetic outcomes. During surgery, the lacrimal gland mass was excised in total, with the capsule intact. The specimen was sent for histopathological examination, which later suggested a possibility of IgG4-related inflammatory disease. Since such conditions can affect other parts of the body, Dr. Goel emphasized the importance of systemic evaluation and referred the patient for further medical screening. Post-operatively, Mr. Khan recovered well. The swelling subsided, his eye returned to its normal position, and movements were completely free. Sutures were removed after ten days, leaving only a fine, hidden scar. The patient expressed great satisfaction, noting significant improvement in comfort and appearance, and extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Goel and the Eye7 team for their professional care. This case highlights the importance of timely diagnosis and surgical intervention in orbital pathologies. Lacrimal gland masses, whether benign or inflammatory, require expert evaluation to prevent complications and achieve both functional and cosmetic success. ⍟ ⍟ ⍟ ABOUT THE SURGEON - DR RUCHI GOEL https://www.eye7.in/eye-specialists/p...
